Origin

The Elder Green arose when the first elven clans gathered beneath an elder tree after a season of famine. Silvan-Thas revealed the shared roots beneath their feet, while Vaelen taught them to hunt without waste, Aeriel-Sol showed them how to cultivate without conquest, and Oakhaven-Cor received the dead into the Leth-Weave. Over centuries, the other powers emerged as distinct expressions of the same living covenant: growth, decay, rest, memory, protection, and the measured shape of civilization.

Cosmology

All existence grows from the Worldroot, whose deepest heart is Silvan-Thas and whose roots reach the Leth-Weave. The mortal world is a living threshold where wilderness, settlement, memory, and change must exchange gifts. Seasonal powers move through the branches: Yvenna awakens sap, Aeriel-Sol ripens leaf and fruit, Kaelen-Rot returns matter to soil, and Rael-Vane draws life inward. Oakhaven-Cor receives the dead, Lyra gives memory a voice, Vaelen governs the wild, Shadow-Thorn protects sacred boundaries, and Archon Sylvanus and Theron negotiate the limits of civilization.

Structure

The Elder Green has no single supreme priesthood. Its worship is organized through grove circles, clan elders, traveling rangers, Leth-Tree keepers, seasonal healers, and custodians of living archways. Each community appoints or recognizes different ritual specialists: root-speakers serve Oakhaven-Cor, elegists serve Lyra, huntwardens serve Vaelen, greenhands serve Yvenna and Aeriel-Sol, composters serve Kaelen-Rot, winter-keepers serve Rael-Vane, barrow wardens serve Shadow-Thorn, and boundary stewards serve Archon Sylvanus and Theron. Silvan-Thas is honored at major gatherings, but no priest may claim to speak for the whole faith without the consent of the local grove, clan, and ancestors.

Mortal Relations

The Elder Green is deeply engaged with mortal life. Its priests serve as farmers, herbalists, rangers, healers, judges of land use, undertakers, singers, and guardians of sacred places. Elven communities often maintain several shrines rather than a single temple, connecting living archways, Leth-Trees, orchards, barrows, hunting borders, and compost gardens into one sacred landscape. The faith is influential throughout Sylvros and travels with rangers, herbalists, and migrant clans beyond it. Its central demand is reciprocity: civilization may take root, but it must remain answerable to wilderness, ancestry, and the cycles of renewal.

Afterlife

The dead return through Oakhaven-Cor to the Leth-Weave, where ancestral spirits dwell within elder trees and may counsel the living through Whispering Burl rites. Lyra preserves each soul’s story in the Final Elegy, while Shadow-Thorn guards the barrows and sacred roots against desecration. Souls that have fulfilled their duties may pass into Silvan-Thas’s deep green heart, becoming part of the living cycle.
