Origin

When the First Heart awakened beneath the mountains, four divine minds formed around its competing impulses. Vaskhiri emerged from the desire to keep what is loved, Seshath from the fear of being left, Taqri from the demand that power answer to justice, and Haldor from the refusal to accept any cage. Their first argument became the first war, and every later conflict is considered its echo.

Cosmology

The world is a fortress built around the First Heart, a cosmic spark that desires freedom. Vaskhiri believes the Heart must belong to her alone; Seshath believes it must belong to everyone under her protection. Taqri teaches that the Heart must choose its own path, while Haldor claims it must be shattered into countless sparks so no power can possess it. Every war among mortals echoes this disagreement.

Structure

The religion has no single orthodoxy. The Claiming Houses serve Vaskhiri, the Veiled Circles serve Seshath, the Open Courts serve Taqri, and the Road-Fires serve Haldor. Each tradition maintains its own clergy, holidays, scriptures, military orders, and initiation rites. Alliances between Taqri's Open Courts and Haldor's Road-Fires are common, while Vaskhiri's Claiming Houses and Seshath's Veiled Circles cooperate only until jealousy divides them. Mixed congregations are rare, unstable, and often the center of major political crises.

Mortal Relations

The pantheon divides kingdoms, families, armies, and resistance movements. Vaskhiri's temples offer protection through surveillance and rigid hierarchy, while Seshath's sanctuaries provide comfort that often becomes isolation. Taqri's priests organize lawful emancipation and defensive leagues. Haldor's devotees build mobile communities, rebel networks, and escape routes. Most nations outlaw at least one goddess's worship, which only makes their cults more secretive and dangerous.

Afterlife

The dead enter the Fourfold Reckoning, a contested realm divided among the divine domains. Those who surrender their will to Vaskhiri or Seshath become cherished prisoners in jeweled dream-palaces, while the faithful of Taqri and Haldor may cross the Bridge of Returning Spears and be reborn. Souls who served no power are fought over by all four and may become wandering ghosts.
