The Opening

“For three hundred years, Johnny Hood's treasure has been dismissed as a sailor's lie, but a newly recovered fragment of his map points toward Blackwake Reef. Set the Scene

The adventure begins in Port Merrow during a public auction of salvaged pirate artifacts. Old Pell Brine interrupts the auction, identifies a broken compass as Johnny Hood's, and reveals that its needle points toward Blackwake Reef only when held near seawater. Before he can explain more, Captain Silas Rook's agents attack, forcing the party to protect Pell, secure the compass fragment, and choose whether to pursue the fleeing thieves or save civilians trapped in the collapsing auction hall.

If the party fails, Captain Rook gains enough wealth and legitimacy to dominate the Sapphire Reach's trade routes. If they succeed but mishandle the remains or recording, Johnny's restless crew continue haunting the coast. If they honor the dead and distribute the treasure according to the clues, they can change the balance of power across the region.

Ticking Clock·Rook's expedition has a three-day lead and plans to open the vault during the next extreme low tide. After the tide turns, Blackwake Reef remains accessible only during rare lunar events. Each major delay gives Rook time to remove another safeguard or recruit more privateers.

When played, the cylinder records Johnny and his crew singing Leave Her, Johnny, revealing his regret for everything he abandoned when he became a pirate.
