Archivist Meret Voss receives the party in a sealed archive beneath a ruined monastery. On a table lies a map drawn in the cartographer's own blood, its ink changing whenever moonlight touches it. Talan Reed, the sole survivor of the last expedition, identifies the route and warns that the desert is already moving around the lost city's location. Meret offers the party the map, a supply caravan, and access to restricted records, but insists that the Wellspring must not fall into the hands of the Ashen Covenant.
Archivist Meret Voss
The party is approached by Archivist Meret Voss after returning from another expedition. She arranges a private meeting in a monastery archive, presents the blood-ink map, and offers substantial payment for a discreet investigation before the Ashen Covenant reaches the ruins.

If the Wellspring is seized, the Ashen Covenant can control the region's water supply and eventually threaten neighboring kingdoms. If it is destroyed recklessly, the desert settlements may lose their only chance to restore their poisoned wells. If the ancient intelligence awakens fully, it may decide that every living settlement is a contaminant to be purified.
Background Lore

The city became a center of healing, astronomy, and sacred engineering. Three centuries ago, Namarra vanished beneath a migrating sea of glass and salt. Every expedition sent to find it disappeared, except for one dying cartographer whose final map showed a staircase descending beneath the ruins of a monastery.
