Where the world once broke, the watch still burns.
TMThe Rift Marches
Overview
The Rift Marches are a sprawling frontier where old wounds in reality divide grazing lands, rocky uplands, and growing market roads. Fortresses stand near the most dangerous tears, staffed by sentries and void warriors trained to contain incursions before they spread. Their warning fires connect a patchwork of farms, mining camps, and trade towns, but patrols cannot guard every scar. Here, settlement means accepting both the promise of new trade and the constant possibility that the world may open beneath your feet.
Cultures
Marchfolk blend frontier farming customs with strict traditions of watch duty.
The breachward tradition honors disciplined void warriors as guardians against incursions.
Caravan communities preserve customs gathered from the many roads crossing the Marches.

How they spread
PatternMost settlements cluster near guarded roads, reliable water, and fortress protection. Isolated homesteads and seasonal camps occupy the gaps between patrol routes.
The Bellows Road links ironworks and fortress supply yards.
The Sluice Run carries grain and stone toward southern markets.
The Watchfire Track connects signal towers and smaller garrisons.

History and secrets
The Rift Marches grew from scattered borderlands into a linked defensive frontier after reality tore open in several places. Early keeps shared warning fires and supplies, then developed specialized sentries trained to fight the impossible. Generations of uneasy peace have built roads, markets, and settlements around the fortresses, but the old scars still stir. Recent surges have renewed arguments over who must pay for the watch and who may profit from the danger.
