(13)A well-balanced dagger whose blade has been polished until it catches even weak candlelight. The copper wire grip is practical rather than decorative, helping the hand stay firm in rain or blood.
A compact smith's mallet with a head of pale, resonant stone. Its disruptive crack is more startling than powerful, making it useful for breaking an enemy's rhythm.
A narrow shortsword with a wavering blue line along its edge. It is a minor enchanted weapon intended for a beginning adventurer, not a replacement for a stronger magical armament.
A sturdy wooden shield faced with painted iron. Each one carries a small inset bell, a tradition retained because the first shield bearing one supposedly warned its owner of an unseen ambush.
Black leather armor reinforced with overlapping metal studs. It smells faintly of lamp oil and cedar, the scent of the curing racks in the shop's rear room.
A practical chain shirt of interlocking steel rings, each link darkened against rust. It hangs from a ceiling rail and gives off a quiet, dry chime whenever the shop door opens.
A canonical healing potion with a warm red glow. The liquid smells of crushed berries and hot iron, and it is kept in padded compartments to prevent breakage.
Small iron spikes packed in waxed paper packets. The spikes are ordinary military caltrops, though the smith stamps each packet with a warning mark shaped like an open eye.
A brass hooded lantern with blue glass panels. Its frame clicks as it cools, making a recognizable sound that has become part of the shop's nighttime rhythm.
A smooth iron rod capped with a small smoky crystal. It is inexpensive, dependable, and favored by apprentices who need a focus that will survive being dropped in a dungeon.
A packet of five temporary warding studs. They do not improve a weapon's damage or a shield's protection, but their red glow can mark allies, reveal dropped gear, or discourage ambushes.
A bronze cloak clasp shaped like a narrow eye. The magic is modest but useful, and the clasp grows warm when its glow is activated.
A small iron charm mounted on a leather cord. It vibrates with a faint dry rattle when fear magic is nearby, though it offers no protection until deliberately activated.

“The Bell That Warns occupies a narrow stone-fronted armory whose name began as a warning after an early magical cuirass rang loudly whenever its wearer approached danger. The cuirass was never repaired, but the name stayed because every attempt to change the sign was followed by a mishap. Inside, blue-white witchlight floats in iron cages above racks of weapons and armor. Protective chalk marks cover the floor, and every enchanted item is displayed beside a handwritten card explaining exactly what it does and does not do. The air carries three constant scents: hot iron from the rear forge, cedar oil from the armor racks, and sharp wintergreen from the potion cabinet. A line of tiny bells runs from the front door to the workbench, creating a soft chiming pattern whenever anyone enters. Kett Iori is a compact human armorer with a square jaw, clipped speech, and black hair tied high to keep it away from the forge. The name Kett came from the hard knock of a hammer on an anvil, while Iori was inherited from a grandmother who claimed the word meant 'one who listens' in an old family dialect. Kett listens constantly, testing customers by asking what they expect an item to do and refusing to sell magic to anyone who cannot repeat the warning label back to him. He wears a soot-dark leather apron, carries a crossbow beneath the counter, and has a habit of tapping twice on every shield before handing it over. The shop's only staff member is a silent animated broom called Winter-Hiss, named for the breathy scrape it makes across the stone floor and the cold draft that follows it. Winter-Hiss sweeps ash, tracks footprints, and nudges unattended objects back into their proper places.”
