Creature TypeHumanoid
Play a Blooded Skull Orc if you want to be a towering, sightless warrior who navigates the world through vibration and scent. These gray-skinned nomads are masters of survival in the Desertstone, using their massive frames and ritual scars to command respect while hunting prey that never hears them coming.
Physical Description
These orcs are massive specimens of their kind, standing between seven and nine feet tall with frames corded in dense, functional muscle. Their skin is the color of sun-bleached basalt or dry silt, providing natural camouflage against rocky outcroppings. Most striking are their eyes, which are entirely milky white and lack pupils. While functionally blind to light, their large, flared nostrils are constantly twitching to sample the air for pheromones. Their skin is a tapestry of ritual scarification, each raised mark denoting a kill, a trial survived, or a blessing from their ancestors.
Society & Culture
Society is meritocratic and centered around the 'Path of the Scar.' Youth are not given names until they survive their first dust-storm hunt. They move in seasonal patterns across the Desertstone, following the migration of massive lizards and the availability of hidden aquifers. Every individual's history is written on their skin; a Blooded Skull Orc can read a comrade's entire biography just by touching the scars on their back during a communal rest. They value silence, strength, and the ability to interpret the 'song of the ground.'
Religion & Alignment
Their spirituality revolves around the Earth-Mother and the Blood-God, ancient deities of the stone. They are generally Neutral, focused on the pragmatism of survival, though their fierce loyalty to the tribe can lean toward Lawful. They view the surface world as a fleeting illusion, believing only the weight of the stone and the heat of the blood are real.
Homelands & Architecture
The Desertstone is a vast expanse of scorched plains and rocky badlands. They do not build permanent structures, instead living in massive yurts made from the hide of desert behemoths or seeking shelter in deep sandstone canyons. Their 'architecture' is portable and designed to be struck and moved within an hour.
Relationships With Other Peoples
They are often misunderstood as feral due to their lack of eyes, but they are shrewd traders. They respect 'Stone-kin' (Dwarf-like peoples) for their shared love of subterranean depths but find the 'Sun-seekers' (Elf-like peoples) to be too noisy and reliant on visual deception. They have a deep-seated rivalry with any who attempt to fence off the open plains.
