Towering giants of the Desertstone, the Lithos-Orcs are nomadic survivors who navigate the blinding sands by scent and spiritual intuition. While their milky eyes may suggest blindness to the uninitiated, their flared nostrils and corded muscles reveal a predator perfectly adapted to the most hostile corners of the world.
Physical Description
These massive humanoids possess skin the color of parched river stones or cooling volcanic ash. Standing nearly two feet taller than their lowland cousins, their frames are broader and layered with dense, functional muscle. Their most striking feature is their milky white eyes, which lack visible pupils but function perfectly in both high-noon glare and midnight shadows. Their faces are dominated by large, expressive nostrils capable of twitching with mechanical precision. Every adult is covered in ritualistic scarification: deep, intentional keloid ridges that serve as a tactile record of their lineage, victories, and spiritual standing within the Blooded Skull tribes.
Society & Culture
Life among the Lithos-Orcs is a continuous ritual of proving one's worth to the collective. They are meritocratic nomads who value physical endurance and the ability to contribute to the tribe's survival. Their culture revolves around the 'Liturgy of Scars,' a practice where every major life event or martial achievement is etched into the flesh with obsidian glass. To have clear skin is to be a ghost: someone who has never lived, never fought, and never sacrificed. Despite their fearsome appearance, they are deeply communal, sharing water and food with an egalitarian rigor that ensures the tribe's survival in the Desertstone.
Religion & Alignment
The Lithos-Orcs do not worship distant deities but rather the 'Primordial Breath,' a spiritual manifestation of the desert wind and the scents it carries. They believe their ancestors' spirits linger in the pheromones of the living. While often perceived as cruel by outsiders, they generally lean toward Neutral alignments, following a strict internal code of desert law that prioritizes the group's survival over individual whims.
Homelands & Architecture
The Desertstone is a vast expanse of shifting dunes and jagged mesas. Because they are nomadic, Lithos-Orc architecture is limited to temporary hide-tents or 'Stone-Shelters,' which are natural caves modified with bone-and-leather curtains to block the sun. They leave 'Scent-Markers' throughout their territory: mounds of aromatic herbs and resin that warn other tribes of their presence.
Relationships With Other Peoples
Lithos-Orcs view most other species as 'The Scentless,' finding it difficult to trust those whose pheromones are masked by perfumes or metal armor. They have a strained but functional trading relationship with the deep-dwelling dwarves of the mesas, exchanging desert salts and monster hides for worked iron. They view the fragile elf-like inhabitants of the oases with a mixture of pity and territorial aggression.
