Creature TypeHumanoid
Towering over most other humanoids, the Lithos-Orcs of the Blooded Skull tribe are masters of the sun-bleached badlands. Use your heightened senses to track prey through scent and vibration while wielding the physical power of a desert giant.
Physical Description
These massive humanoids possess skin the color of weathered slate, often caked in white dust from the Desertstone. They stand between seven and nine feet tall with frames corded in dense, functional muscle. Their most striking feature is their milky white eyes, which lack pupils and appear sightless to outsiders. Their faces are dominated by wide, flared nostrils and heavy jaws. Ritualistic scars known as Gül-Kaza mark their bodies, signifying specific kills, survived sandstorms, or oaths of loyalty to the tribe.
Society & Culture
Blooded Skull society is meritocratic and deeply tied to the concept of the 'scented path.' Status is not inherited but earned through the collection of scars and the proving of one's utility to the caravan. They are nomads who follow the seasonal migration of dust-gazelles. Great importance is placed on silence during the day to preserve energy, leading to a culture that values brevity in speech and depth in action. They believe that a warrior who cannot 'feel' the desert's heartbeat is already dead.
Religion & Alignment
Most Lithos-Orcs are Lawful Neutral, adhering to the strict traditions of the tribe to ensure survival. They venerate the Ancient Sands, a collection of ancestral spirits and primal deities who embody the sun and the wind. They do not build temples but treat the entire Desertstone as a sacred space where the strong are tested and the weak are reclaimed by the dust.
Homelands & Architecture
The Desertstone is a brutal expanse of rocky badlands and shifting dunes. Lithos-Orc architecture is entirely portable, consisting of heavy leather tents supported by the rib bones of prehistoric desert beasts. When they must remain in one place, they utilize natural caverns or shallow rock shelves, carving simple glyphs into the walls to record their passage.
Relationships With Other Peoples
Outsiders often mistake Lithos-Orcs for mindless brutes or blind beggars. This is a mistake the Blooded Skull tribe uses to their advantage. They are wary of 'Soft-Skins' from the coastal cities who waste water and talk too much. However, they respect anyone who can survive a week in the badlands without a guide, often forming tentative alliances with desert-dwelling halflings or wandering merchants.
