Goblin folk are small, agile humanoids with prominent ears, expressive faces, and quick, dexterous hands. Their coloring ranges from mossy green and ocher to slate, russet, and mottled brown. Their features vary noticeably between lineages, and individuals may show unusual traits such as heavy brows, broad shoulders, pale eyes, or a warm flush beneath the skin. Clothing is layered and repaired, with pockets, loops, and tool ties often more important than matching colors.

Goblin society prizes practical ingenuity, shared knowledge, and the art of making do. Communities often maintain common stores of materials, and taking from them carries an expectation that something useful will eventually be returned. Reputation is earned through clever work and dependable help, though a spectacular failure may become just as famous as a success. Their culture is chaotic in appearance but not careless: members learn which risks are worth taking, how to secure a workshop, and when to keep a sparking device well away from the roof.

Many goblins follow the Faith of Rummage, also called Goblin Ingenuity, whose sacred joy is the Laughter of Sparks. Its creation tale says that when the Mandate declared perfection achieved, the universe yawned and Runmage crawled out. He stole bits of divine fire, screws of starlight, and wires of fate, laughing them into new forms. His chosen prophet, Sproxle Greasebeard, taught that even broken things can become miracles. Every explosion and failed invention is understood as a prayer that creation never stops changing. Dwarves may call goblins fools, and the gods may call them dangerous; Runmage, who calls himself bored, is said to call them interesting. Goblin beliefs vary, but many favor freedom, experimentation, and mutual aid over strict hierarchies.

Their homes are assembled from local materials and salvaged pieces, with a fondness for additions, hidden cupboards, and repairs that become permanent features. A goblin settlement may occupy burrows beneath a hillside, a reclaimed mill, or a maze of workshops around a communal yard. Structures are practical, frequently altered, and rarely considered finished.

Goblins are often welcomed as clever repairers and distrusted as unpredictable neighbors, sometimes both at once. They trade readily with communities that respect their craft and remember slights against those who treat them as pests or fools. Goblin friendships are often demonstrative: a repaired buckle, a homemade charm, or a carefully saved scrap can carry the weight of a heartfelt promise.
