WarningWhen the leaves turn silver, the ward is listening. When they blacken, something else is listening too.
DiaryThe stream bent around my blade tonight. I think the old wood remembers my name.
FormulaGuard first, strike second. The wild has no patience for a beautiful mistake.
The book itself
The blade is both weapon and focus, never a substitute for a spell's listed verbal or somatic components.
At level 1, the Paladin progression grants two 1st-level spell slots. This codex offers ten 1st-level options, but the swordbearer prepares only two after a Long Rest.
A shortsword can serve as this character's spellcasting focus under the provided Elemental-Sword rules.
The caster
Elemental-SwordIlyra Fen
Studies: Elemental swordplay, protective wards, and wild-land magicManner: Alert and quietly warm, with the stillness of someone who has learned to watch the wind before moving.Focus: A balanced shortsword with a riverstone pommel, used as a spellcasting focus under the Elemental-Sword's rules.Quirk: She tests the air with two fingers before drawing her sword, even indoors.Wants: Find the source of a spreading blight that is turning ancient groves against their protectors.Ilyra Fen grew up guiding travelers through storm-cut passes. After a wildfire drove her village from its valley, she learned to wield a blade while listening for the land's answer.
The book
A weatherworn field grimoire bound in green hide, with a bronze shortsword clasp and pressed leaves tucked between its pages. Its ink shifts from river-blue to ember-red near the spell diagrams.
