Hemorrhagic Artillerist

Hemorrhagic Artillerists are ruthless combat engineers who weaponize the brief interval between death and decay. They reinforce animated corpses with blood-pressure valves, tendon cables, rupture charges, and surgical command lattices. While other Sanguine Resurrectionists preserve life or create dependable servants, the Artillerist creates faster, stronger, and more explosive corpse-weapons designed to break formations, clear barricades, and turn casualties into coordinated assaults.

SavesUses the parent class's normal defenses and Tests. Your creations use their existing defenses. When you personally take damage from one of your own Bloodwork Patterns or Sanguine Detonation, you gain +10% to the relevant Agility or Constitution Test to resist it.

Spellcasting & Powers

None. The Hemorrhagic Artillerist advances blood magic through corpse engineering, Bloodwork Patterns, and explosive servant powers rather than conventional spellcasting.

Multiclassing

A character entering this subclass must already possess Blood Reserve, Fresh Resurrection, and access to Bloodwork Patterns. Its features rely on animated creations, Sanguine Detonation, Intelligence Bonus, and Sanguine Arts Tests. Other classes may multiclass into it only with access to corpse animation or equivalent blood-based powers, subject to the Game Master's approval.

Proficiencies

Surgical kit, demolition tools, battlefield engineering equipment, corpse preservation supplies, and heavy protective gear. Gain +10% to Sanguine Arts Tests involving corpse modification, explosives, structural weaknesses, or battlefield fortification.

Training & Initiation

A prospective Artillerist must dissect a recently dead creature, reinforce its joints, and animate it under battlefield conditions. The final test requires directing a corpse through a tactical exercise, then detonating it without harming the instructor or wasting its usable remains. Most candidates train under military surgeons, clandestine colleges, or veteran Sanguine Resurrectionists.

Societal Perception

Soldiers often view Hemorrhagic Artillerists as terrifying but indispensable. Civilians usually see them as grave robbers, war profiteers, or necessary monsters. Governments may offer generous contracts while religious and funerary authorities campaign to outlaw their practices.
