Displacers

Displacers are Nomads who treat position as a weapon, a shield, and a language. While other travelers focus on crossing distance, Displacers specialize in rearranging the battlefield itself. They swap allies with enemies, pull objects into waiting hands, redirect thrown weapons through impossible angles, and turn every nearby creature into a potential piece in a tactical game. Their greatest strength is control: no one is ever quite where they expect to be when a Displacer is present.

SavesUses the Nomad’s normal saving throws and defenses. Displacer features primarily call for Constitution saving throws against your Nomad spell save DC and improve your ability to avoid Opportunity Attacks through teleportation and forced movement.

Spellcasting & Powers

You use the Nomad’s half-caster spellcasting and Intelligence-based Nomad spell list. This subclass adds no separate spellcasting progression, but its features reward teleporting before attacks and manipulating the positions of creatures and objects.

Misty Step A short teleport that complements the Displacer’s constant repositioning.
Vortex Warp Moves a creature to a space you can see, reinforcing the subclass’s battlefield control.
Rope Trick Creates a temporary safe position for allies and valuable objects.

Experienced Nomad Spells

Dimension Door Moves you and an ally across a battlefield or through a dangerous barrier.
Thunder Step Combines teleportation with area damage and forced separation.
Leomund’s Tiny Hut Provides a secure staging point for couriers, rescuers, and traveling parties.

Master Nomad Spells

Scatter Instantly rearranges several creatures, closely matching the Displacer’s tactical identity.
Steel Wind Strike Strikes enemies from impossible angles across a wide battlefield.
Teleportation Circle Establishes reliable long-distance routes for magical courier work.

High-Level Nomad Magic

Arcane Gate Creates a two-way portal that lets the party control access to the battlefield.
Teleport Provides major strategic transportation for the Displacer and their allies.
Demiplane Creates an extradimensional location for storage, planning, or emergency refuge.

Multiclassing

A character multiclassing into Displacer must meet the Nomad multiclassing prerequisites and follows all Nomad multiclassing rules. Displacer features use Intelligence and your Nomad spell save DC where specified. This subclass grants no additional proficiencies or spell slots.

Proficiencies

You gain no additional proficiencies beyond those granted by the Nomad class. Displacers commonly train with daggers, darts, light thrown weapons, chess-like tactical exercises, spatial geometry, and emergency extraction drills.

Training & Initiation

A prospective Displacer begins by learning to visualize spaces without looking at them. Training combines footwork, thrown-weapon drills, cartography, object placement, and controlled teleportation. Initiates practice swapping stones before attempting to move living creatures, then graduate to rescue exercises and live tactical games where every participant must constantly adapt to changing positions.

Societal Perception

Ordinary people often find Displacers unnerving because they can alter a room’s arrangement without warning. They are welcomed during rescues, disaster response, and courier work, but distrusted in courts, prisons, marketplaces, and anywhere theft or assassination is feared.
