Hematic Surgeon

Hematic Surgeons are battlefield physicians who treat the body as both anatomy and weapon. Through terrifying precision, they cut away dead tissue, seal ruptures with coagulated blood, and redirect injury from one living body to another. Their art makes them invaluable to soldiers and deeply unsettling to everyone else. At the height of their discipline, a Hematic Surgeon can pull an ally back from death by accepting that ally's wounds into their own flesh.

You retain Sanguine Battle Warden's half-caster Bloodbound Spellcasting. Hematic Surgeon abilities do not grant a separate spell list or casting characteristic; Willpower remains your casting characteristic, and Blood Reserve remains the fuel for your blood magic.

Novice Bloodcraft

Blood Mend Original Creation: Close a minor wound and restore a small amount of Hit Points by spending Blood Reserve.
Shared Pulse Original Creation: Link two willing creatures so one can transfer a limited amount of Hit Points to the other.
Coagulate Original Creation: Halt bleeding, suppress ongoing physical damage, and grant a bonus to stabilization tests.

Battlefield Surgery

Red Stitching Original Creation: Seal a serious wound, restore moderate Hit Points, and prevent it from becoming a lasting injury.
Borrowed Breath Original Creation: Restore consciousness to an unconscious ally and let them act briefly at severe physical cost.
Sanguine Tourniquet Original Creation: Restrict an enemy's movement by hardening blood around a limb after a successful attack or resistance failure.

Advanced Hematics

Vital Exchange Original Creation: Transfer a large amount of Hit Points between willing creatures within range.
Clot of Refusal Original Creation: Prevent an ally from falling below 1 Hit Point for a short duration, then impose fatigue.
Anatomical Rupture Original Creation: Expose a target's vulnerable tissue, increasing physical damage it takes until the end of the encounter.

Master Surgery

Red Reprieve Original Creation: Restore a recently fallen ally to 1 Hit Point while transferring their immediate wounds to the caster.
Living Graft Original Creation: Grow temporary blood-made tissue that restores a lost function or grants protection against physical harm.
Mass Transfusion Original Creation: Redistribute Hit Points among several willing allies, equalizing their condition without exceeding their normal maximums.

Multiclassing

A character entering Hematic Surgeon training should have access to the Sanguine Battle Warden's Blood Reserve and Bloodbound Spellcasting, plus training in Medicine, Surgery, or an equivalent healing skill. Willpower is the key ability for subclass features. Hematic Surgeon abilities function only with the parent class's Blood Reserve and do not grant an additional resource pool.

Medicine or equivalent healing skill; surgical tools, battlefield triage, anatomy, and blood-preservation techniques. You retain all weapon, armor, Bloodcraft, and spellcasting training granted by Sanguine Battle Warden.

Training & Initiation

Candidates apprentice under a licensed battlefield physician, learning anatomy, triage, controlled blood harvesting, and the ethics of consent. Initiation requires performing a life-saving operation under pressure while maintaining a blood-forged surgical seal. The final test usually involves transferring a minor injury from a willing donor without causing shock or panic.

Societal Perception

Soldiers and desperate families often regard Hematic Surgeons as miracle workers. Nobles may hire them as prestigious physicians, while common people fear their ability to move wounds between bodies. Most cultures accept their work only when the donor gives clear consent; coercive blood surgery is considered a grave crime.
