They wield brutal weapon techniques, shatter enemy formations with thunderous commands, and drive their huskarls after fleeing or isolated foes. Multiclassing

This subclass is part of the Thane class and requires the normal Thane multiclassing prerequisites. Its features use Strength, Constitution, Command Dice, Hold the Line, Guard the Household, and Call the Huskarl; it grants no spellcasting.

Proficiencies

You gain no additional proficiencies. You rely on the Thane's proficiency with all armor, shields, simple weapons, and martial weapons, along with artisan's tools and a gaming set.

Training & Initiation

An Oath-Hammer begins by swearing a public oath before a household, war council, or surviving kin. Training combines shield-wall drills, heavy-weapon impact work, pursuit exercises, and controlled exposure to pain. The final rite requires the candidate to hold a breach alone while senior warriors test whether they can remain disciplined after being struck. Those who pass are entrusted with a warhammer, maul, or other weapon that symbolizes decisive protection.

Societal Perception

Ordinary people often see Oath-Hammers as frightening but dependable: dangerous enemies, reassuring protectors. Nobles value their ability to end battles quickly but worry that their champions may turn every disagreement into a test of strength. Soldiers respect them, though many fear being the person who gives an Oath-Hammer an excuse to counterattack.
