The old quarry tunnels of the Gullet House descend into a lair built around a nest of heat-loving predators.
Atmosphere
The air smells of wet limestone, old blood, and singed meat.
The threat
A mature salamander called the Red Maw rules the deepest chamber, where the hot spring feeds its nest.
History
The Gullet House began as a limestone quarry worked by the Vasken Cutters, whose crews needed a reliable underground furnace to fire stone and warm their tools.
Rumors
1d4- 1The quarry's old furnace still burns, though no one has worked the stone there in generations.
- 2A shepherd swears the red-scaled beasts have begun coming out at night to drink from the stream.
- 3The Vasken Cutters sealed something below the mine, then paid the town to forget the whole quarry.
- 4A whistle with three notes can make the lizardfolk stop fighting, or so an old miner claimed.
