Cleanse the Eldertree Before the Shadows Take Root
Cleanse the Eldertree Before the Shadows Take Root
Read Aloud
Moonlight spills across the Eldertree’s roots as Elenara raises a silver bowl. Blackened anchor-stones pulse at the edge of the circle, and shadows pour from them into the grass. The roots wrench free, the pools begin to spread, and a tall shape steps from the darkest patch with its eyes fixed on Elenara.

Battlefield Zones
Silver water, crushed moonstone, and living vines mark the ritual circle around Elenara.
Three blackened anchor-stones stand among exposed roots at the north, east, and west edges of the clearing.
Shadow pools spread through the grass beyond the roots, leaving only narrow safe paths.
Terrain Levers
- Disrupt each blackened anchor-stone with an action and a successful DC 16 Arcana, Religion, or Nature check.
- Silver water burns shadow creatures that enter the ritual circle; a creature can splash one target within 5 feet as a bonus action for 2d6 radiant damage.
- Cutting a living vine weakens the ritual: the next missed step causes two patches of vegetation to die instead of one.
- A creature shoved into a shadow pool takes 3d6 necrotic damage and has its speed reduced by 10 feet until the end of its next turn.
