Morgan Litchfield wants the exact route and cargo manifest to sell to the Obsidian Tribunal, then leave the inn before anyone checks her papers.
The party can point to the ink smear, copied handwriting, Morgan's reactions, or the fact that Eldra omitted the Tribunal warning. Morgan fears arrest more than violence.
- Inspect the parchment edges for fresh cuts and impressions (Investigation DC 12) .
- Compare the map's corner note with ink on Morgan's cuff (Perception DC 13).
- Read all three notices and compare them with Eldra's warnings (Insight DC 14).
- Question Eldra about the warning she never mentioned.
- Watch Morgan whenever a waypoint or cargo detail is named (Insight DC 12).
- Offer Morgan a chance to leave quietly in exchange for the copied notes.
- Ask Eldra to repeat the route from memory.
- Move the parchment and watch who follows it with their eyes.
- Read a false waypoint aloud and observe Corin's reaction.
- Invite every patron to inspect the notices.
- Quietly alert Eldra, then let her challenge Morgan.
- Confront Morgan with the ink and handwriting evidence.
- On the first question, Morgan smiles and claims he is waiting for a room.
- When the party names a waypoint, Morgan glances at the map before pretending to study his drink.
- When shown the ink smear, Morgan blames a careless stable boy.
- When Eldra is questioned about the missing warning, Morgan becomes suddenly helpful and supplies a detail he should not know.
- When cornered, Morgan offers the party a cut of the Tribunal's payment.
