The fog slides over your boots as six pairs of eyes appear between the trees. Wolves burst from the briars, one snapping at the nearest leg while the others cut off the trail. Behind you, a rotten log gives way with a wet crack, and the only clear ground lies beyond the pack.

Six wolves wait among wet roots and briars. The ground is uneven and visibility is poor.

The Fallen Logs
Three rotting logs cross the trail. They are difficult terrain and provide half cover when crouched behind them.

Briar Patch
A ring of thick briars surrounds a bare patch of mud. The wolves use it to cut off escape.
Terrain Levers
- A fallen rotting log forms difficult terrain and can be shoved downhill to knock a creature prone.
- Dense briars heavily obscure a 10-foot patch and deal 1 piercing damage to a creature that enters it for the first time on a turn.
- The fog hides movement beyond 30 feet; a creature that moves quietly can circle unseen until it attacks.
- A gnarled tree can be climbed for higher ground, but its dead branch snaps under heavy weight.
