Its story
What it looks like
A ring of black iron bell-clappers hangs above the ritual floor, though no bells are visible.
Each clapper is joined to the next by a hair-thin red line that sinks into the stone. When the hazard stirs, the lines tighten like strings and the clappers swing in perfect silence.
Why it is here
To protect the ritual beneath Ravenbrook Keep by disrupting intruders and channeling their movement and pain into the rite.
Who made it
The bellwright-priests of Ravenbrook Keep, acting under the direction of the keep's last occult regent.
Lore
The clappers once belonged to Ravenbrook's great bell, which was melted down after a siege.
The priests believed its toll could be preserved by binding the sound to the keep's foundations. The ritual does not create a true bell tone. Instead, it makes the living bodies in the chamber serve as the instrument.
Where it is found
The vaulted ritual chamber beneath Ravenbrook Keep, especially the stone floor between the entrance and the ritual dais.
