The tale
The strongbox lid gives with a wet metallic groan, releasing the smell of peat, old iron, and something faintly sweet beneath it. Inside, a green cloak lies folded beside a vial whose amber contents glow softly in the lantern light. The pages of a small journal flutter though the air is still, and from somewhere out in the reeds comes the distant, hollow note of a bell.
