Archivist Kalthor Sarkesh
Species
Copper Dragonborn
Appearance
Archivist Kalthor Sarkesh is a compact, densely built copper dragonborn whose earth-toned scales range from dry clay along his shoulders to dark, oxidized green between his armored joints. Fine terracotta dust permanently clings beneath his claws and gathers in the shallow seams of his scales, giving him the look of a statue handled by generations of librarians. He walks with short, deliberate steps, always placing his weight on the balls of his feet as though prepared to pivot around a desk or spring between shelves. When waiting, he leans slightly forward with both hands folded over the head of his brass indexer, never quite resting his back against anything. His hands are broad and powerful, but the claws have been carefully filed smooth and stained dark by decades of iron-gall ink. A jeweler's magnifying lens is secured over one amber eye by a brass wire loop. The unexpected contradiction is that his intimidating dragonborn frame is paired with the patient, almost delicate movements of a conservator repairing a moth-eaten page.
“Kalthor speaks in a clipped, consonant-heavy baritone. He enunciates names as though checking them against a ledger and pauses before important nouns.”

Distinguishing Features
Terracotta dust is permanently lodged beneath his claws and in the seams of his scales.
A brass jeweler's lens is fixed over one amber eye by a wire loop.
His claws are filed smooth at the tips but stained nearly black by ink.
He carries himself like a poised spring, leaning forward even when standing still.
His robes smell faintly of hot stone, vinegar, cedar shelves, and iron-gall ink.
Voice
“A dry, resonant baritone with a faint rasp, like a quill dragged across rough parchment. His laughter is rare and surprisingly warm, but his battlefield commands sound like entries being stamped into a death warrant.”
Clothing
Sensible scholar's robes of heavy ochre wool, reinforced with leather-bound document pockets, copper clasps, narrow belts for seal cases, and a faded red sash bearing the vault's authority mark. The hems are dust-stained, while the cuffs are meticulously clean.
Body Language
Kalthor keeps his torso square to whoever is speaking, but his feet remain angled toward the nearest exit or defensible piece of furniture. He taps one claw against his indexer when calculating a response. During moments of anger, he stops moving entirely, and the stillness is more threatening than any raised voice.
