Vrakthir of the South-Sills
Species
Black dragonborn
Appearance
Vrakthir is a tall black dragonborn whose polished scale plating reflects the furnace glow in muted bands of graphite, oil-slick violet, and blue-black. His posture is perfectly vertical and so controlled that he seems less to walk than to be advanced by an invisible calibration rail. He smells faintly of hot metal, bitter citrus solvent, and rain striking stone, a scent he is completely aware of and considers professionally reassuring. His immaculate white leather gloves never show a stain, even after hours in the refining tiers. His most unsettling feature is his expression: an almost serene, scholarly attentiveness that makes catastrophic machinery failures feel like interesting equations rather than emergencies. Despite his imposing height and dense, armored build, he takes up very little social space, standing motionless at the edge of a room until everyone else begins unconsciously arranging themselves around him.
“His speech is measured, technical, and almost ceremonially polite. He uses short sentences, exact quantities, and carefully chosen verbs.”

Distinguishing Features
Mirror-polished black scales with a subtle violet sheen around the jaw and throat.
A pair of long, swept-back horns capped with tiny brass measurement rings.
White gloves that remain unnervingly clean in filthy industrial environments.
A faint, persistent scent of hot iron, citrus solvent, and wet basalt.
A habit of touching walls and pipes as though taking the pulse of the fortress.
His shadow often moves a fraction of a second after he does because of a concealed arcane calibration device in his coat.
Voice
“A deep, even baritone with a faint metallic resonance, as though every word is passing through a brass pipe. He never shouts. In moments of genuine fury, his voice becomes softer, slower, and more precise.”
Clothing
A reinforced alchemist's coat of thick ivory leather, spotless white gloves, dark heat-resistant trousers, brass-buckled harness straps, black ceramic knee guards, and heavy boots with segmented soles for gripping wet industrial floors. Intricate pneumatic calipers, pressure gauges, ceramic ampoules, and folded brass schematics hang from his belt.
Body Language
Vrakthir keeps his shoulders square, his chin level, and his hands either folded behind his back or resting lightly on his calipers. He rarely gestures broadly. Instead, he makes small, exact movements that resemble a technician adjusting a delicate instrument. He does not retreat when threatened, but he subtly angles his body toward the nearest valve, vent, or structural weakness.
