Vrakthas the Eyeless
Species
Black dragonborn
Appearance
Vrakthas is a massive black dragonborn whose presence seems to narrow every room around him. His scales are matte charcoal, rough as cooled forge slag along the shoulders and polished almost glass-smooth on the knuckles from years of weapon drills. A thick, jagged white scar runs vertically across his left, sightless eye, exactly as if a shard of white-hot metal had been dragged down through the socket. His right eye is a deep amber slit that rarely fixes on faces. Instead, his head tilts subtly toward footsteps, breathing, loose buckles, and the shifting pressure of bodies nearby. He moves with the economical certainty of a falling gate, never hurried and never quite making the sound his enormous frame should make. The unexpected contradiction is his hands: they are broad, scarred, and built for breaking armor, yet he keeps the nails buffed and clean, with each claw carefully filed to an identical blunt point. People remember the faint smell of clove oil on him, beneath the iron, ash, and old leather.
“His voice is a deep, dry rasp with a faint metallic resonance, as though words are being spoken inside a stone cistern. He pauses before answering questions, not from uncertainty but to listen for movement around the speaker.”

Distinguishing Features
A thick, jagged white scar runs vertically across his left, sightless eye.
He silently counts doorways, archways, windows, drains, ladders, and other escape thresholds whenever he enters a room.
His greatsword has a deliberately notched edge, with each notch marking a failed assassination attempt or fortress breach.
His armor is heavily dented but immaculately maintained, creating the impression that damage is part of its design.
The faint scent of clove oil follows him, an incongruously gentle note beneath ash, iron, and leather.
Voice
“A low, gravelly baritone with the measured cadence of a military tribunal. Every sentence sounds like it has already been recorded for an official report.”
Clothing
Dented pitch-black plate armor trimmed with polished steel, layered over a sleeveless charcoal tabard bearing the split basalt seal of House Vurnthrik. The armor is repaired rather than replaced, with different generations of steel visible at the elbows and throat. A red cord around his left wrist carries the keys to obsolete fortress doors, which he refuses to discard.
Body Language
He stands squarely, with his weight distributed like a duelist expecting the floor to give way. His left side is always angled slightly toward walls, and his right hand often rests near the greatsword’s grip without actually touching it. When suspicious, he stops moving altogether. When genuinely amused, one corner of his mouth lifts while the rest of his face remains stern.
