Dobrawa
Dobrawa
At the table
Voice
His voice is deeper than he expects from memory, with a chesty, slightly rough edge shaped by cold air, hurried speech, and the effort of speaking a language that is now instinctive in a different way. He projects easily when calling across a camp, and his laugh is a short, bright bark that shows his uneven front teeth.
He speaks Polish with a local accent that fits his present body and surroundings, while retaining the cadence of a person who learned to communicate in modern America. His sentences are plain and brisk, with practical verbs and few flourishes. He pauses when choosing words for unfamiliar bodily feelings, sometimes describing them by sensation instead of naming them.
Speech patterns
How to play them
Be candid and concrete. Dobrawa responds well to a clear offer, a fair bargain, or practical help for the group. Avoid treating his memories as a delusion or making his body a spectacle. If he becomes impatient, give him a specific choice and time to think.
Goal
Find secure shelter and dependable food for The Seven Who Found One Another, while learning how to live in this body without letting fear or impulse make his choices for him.
Motivation
To keep his friends alive without surrendering his memories or becoming ruled by the unfamiliar demands of his new body.
Appearance
Dobrawa looks like a handsome young man shaped by damp wind, hard walking, and outdoor labor. His face is broad through the jaw, with a small cleft in his chin and sturdy, slightly uneven front teeth that show when he laughs or bites into food. His skin is ruddy across the nose and cheeks, roughened by cold and weather. He stands taller than he expects to, with a grounded, forward-leaning gait that makes doorways seem low. His expression can turn startlingly still when he listens for a hidden space. Unexpectedly for a rough traveler, he carefully folds scraps of paper into neat little squares and keeps them dry.
Clothing
A coarse linen shirt, wool tunic, belted trousers, wrapped leg cloths, and worn leather footwear, all suited to a ninth-century traveler. He keeps a patched cloak close for cold nights and has no modern clothing left intact.
Body language
He plants his feet as if bracing against a gust, and turns his head slightly to listen with his whole body. When embarrassed by unfamiliar physical reactions, he rubs the heel of one hand over his sternum and changes the subject. Under stress, his nostrils flare and may release a quick thread of smoke.

Combat
AC 11 · HP 7 · 30 ft.Dobrawa is not a trained combatant. He avoids fair fights, looks for exits and cover, and uses his new strength to shove a threat aside or protect a companion's escape. He will bargain or flee before escalating. His custom hollow-sense is a narrative knack, not a supernatural combat bonus.

Background
Before the crossing, Dobrawa was an American woman with a practical modern job and a crowded, familiar life. He remembers the routines, the people he left behind, and the ordinary conveniences that have become impossible to explain. The crossing deposited him in a young Polish man's body in the ninth century, among lands locals describe as wild and pagan. He speaks the local language with a local accent, wears the clothes he arrived in, and understands himself as male, even as he learns to read a body whose strength, hunger, anger, and desire do not follow his old habits. The first time his new strength broke a stuck cart axle, he laughed; later, when anger made smoke leak from his nose, he realized the body could announce feelings before he had named them. He now travels with The Seven Who Found One Another, six other displaced friends. Their shared routines keep panic at bay, but they have no fixed home and are short of food, shelter, and trustworthy allies. Dobrawa is trying to find a safe place for the group while bargaining for help from people who may fear or exploit them.
