Bastion-Six

0·Agender construct, commonly addressed as it·Medium
Lawful good, with an increasingly independent interpretation of what justice requires

Species

Gearforged

Appearance

Bastion-Six is a meticulously articulated Gearforged investigator built around a narrow, blackened iron faceplate that resembles a courtroom mask left too long in a furnace. A thin amber slit lens conceals its optical receptors, brightening and narrowing whenever it detects a contradiction. Its brushed-steel chassis is covered in fine regulatory inventory numbers, many of them crossed out and replaced with handwritten witness initials in copper ink. Small plates overlap at its shoulders, elbows, and knees like the scales of a mechanical heron, producing a soft sequence of clicks as it moves. Despite its severe silhouette and heavy construction, it walks with startling delicacy, placing each foot precisely beside existing footprints rather than on them. The unexpected contradiction is its hands: broad, scarred-looking iron manipulators designed for labor, yet capable of delicately lifting a single eyelash from a murder scene without disturbing nearby dust.

Height6 feet 3 inches
BuildTall, compact, and powerfully assembled, with a narrow waist, reinforced shoulders, and the dense balance of a machine designed to remain upright in violent wind
EyesAmber-gold optical light with a faint inner ring of green diagnostic sparks
HairNone, though three braided copper signal cables emerge behind the headplate like a severe mechanical queue
SkinBlackened iron faceplate and brushed steel plating, with oxidized copper visible at the joints and pale blue maintenance lacquer beneath damaged plates

A measured vocal synthesizer with a low metallic resonance. Hard consonants produce a faint click, especially k, t, and p.”

Distinguishing Features

A thin amber slit lens that brightens when it detects deception or concealed movement.

Inventory numbers etched across its steel plates, with several replaced by the names of deceased workers.

A permanent rust-red stain on the left cuff of its coat.

A tiny brass bell mounted inside its chest, audible only when it enters diagnostic reverie.

Its left thumb bears a recessed seal that can imprint a unique chain-of-custody mark into wax, clay, or soft metal.

Voice

Low, precise, and resonant, like a magistrate speaking from inside a sealed furnace chamber

Clothing

A heavy stain-resistant evidence custodian's coat of charcoal waxcloth, reinforced at the seams with copper thread and fitted with sealed glass sample vials, classification tags, evidence cord, magnifying lenses, chalk, tweezers, lock picks, and a folding cataloging board. Its coat is immaculate except for one rust-red stain permanently retained as a reminder.

Body Language

Bastion-Six stands unnaturally still while listening, with only the amber lens and tiny jaw gears moving. When intrigued, it angles its head exactly eleven degrees. When uncertain, it rests two fingers against the nearest hard surface as if taking its pulse. It turns its entire torso toward speakers rather than merely swiveling its head, making its attention feel absolute.
