Aurelio Sallidor
Council Usher
Aurelio Sallidor
Species
Human
Appearance
Aurelio is a narrow, finely composed man whose stillness feels deliberate rather than frail. He stands with most of his weight resting on the balls of his feet, as if forever waiting for a door to open or a verdict to be announced. Before speaking, he draws a quiet breath through his nose, holds it for one heartbeat, and lets it out through pursed lips. His skin has the dry, warm texture of old parchment, while his hands are broad-knuckled and permanently stained with blue sealing wax. His movements are economical, almost ceremonial, but sudden emotion makes one hand curl around the other wrist like a man restraining himself. The unexpected contradiction is his smile: when genuinely pleased, Aurelio shows a bright, boyish grin that makes him look briefly like the mischievous apprentice he once was, completely at odds with his austere public presence.
“Low, deliberate, and beautifully articulated. Aurelio rarely raises his voice.”

Distinguishing Features
A measured breath and brief pause precede nearly every important sentence.
Blue sealing-wax stains permanently mark the creases of his hands.
He leans slightly toward whoever is speaking, even when he deeply disagrees.
His council baton bears hundreds of tiny carved tally marks, one for each petition he believes the council mishandled.
His unexpectedly youthful grin appears whenever someone makes a clever argument or brings him excellent tea.
Voice
“A low baritone with a dry, papery texture, softened by careful diction. Every sentence seems to arrive after a private legal review. When grief breaks through his restraint, his voice becomes unexpectedly gentle and almost musical.”
Clothing
A charcoal council coat lined with dark green silk, high-collared ivory shirt, silver chain of office, soft leather gloves, polished boots, and a narrow belt carrying seals, keys, and a document case. His formal mantle is patched on the inside with scraps of petitions he could not bear to destroy.
Body Language
Aurelio keeps his shoulders squared and his chin slightly lowered, as though listening to a judgment delivered from above. While waiting, he places one foot precisely behind the other and rests both hands on the head of his council baton. When angry, he becomes more motionless, but his thumb rubs repeatedly over the baton’s engraved scales.
