Surn
Species
Tectonic Forged, Star-Sand Calibrated
Appearance
Surn is a broad, human-shaped construct carved from dense charcoal granite, with copper hoops cinched around his shoulders, ribs, and forearms like structural bands on a bridge. An azure Star-Sand core pulses behind a lead-glass chest plate, brightening whenever he calculates weight, danger, or deceit. His surface is not smooth. Years of salt wind and abrasive cargo dust have polished his knuckles and left pale mineral streaks along his knees. He moves with unnerving economy, favoring his left side when turning, then stopping so precisely that loose grit settles around his feet without a sound. The contradiction is immediate: he looks built to break gates, yet he handles cargo seals, tea cups, and injured birds with delicate patience. His hands are the most noticeable feature, each finger capped with replaceable copper pads worn thin by decades of winch work.
“His voice is low, dry, and resonant, like a mallet striking a hollow bridge beam. He leaves deliberate pauses before important words.”

Distinguishing Features
An azure Star-Sand core pulses behind a lead-glass chest plate like a restrained heartbeat.
His copper fingertips are flattened and polished from operating counterweight winches.
He favors his left side while turning, then stops with startling precision.
A hairline seam across his sternum has been filled with red sealing wax instead of proper forge compound.
When nearby machinery is stressed, faint blue light travels through the mineral veins in his arms.
Voice
“A deep, measured baritone with a metallic undertone, calm as a sealed furnace until danger makes every syllable strike like iron.”
Clothing
A sleeveless charcoal work harness crosses his chest and locks beneath the lead-glass core plate. Copper scale guards protect his forearms. He wears a heavy red-brown warden sash, a tool belt of brass hooks and seal punches, a rain cape treated with oil, and iron-soled platform boots fitted directly over his stone feet.
Body Language
Surn stands with his feet planted at slightly different angles, as if braced against a permanent incline. He turns his whole torso instead of craning his neck, lowers one hand near the winch levers when alert, and touches two fingers to his chest plate when discussing promises. In moments of concealed distress, his left copper thumb taps a slow three-beat rhythm against his palm.
