Aurelio Sallidor
Aristocrat and Merchant
Aurelio Sallidor
Species
Human
Appearance
Aurelio Sallidor looks like a man who has spent years standing in doorways where other people wanted him gone. His face is broad and tired, with soft cheeks that make his stern expressions seem almost apologetic. His hands are the first thing most people notice: thick-knuckled, permanently roughened by timber, rope, and old splinters, with pale crescent marks where sawdust once worked beneath his nails. He moves carefully, as though every floorboard might owe him money. Despite his respectable clothes, he carries the faint scent of cedar oil, horse leather, and bitter medicinal herbs. He is physically imposing when seated, yet oddly easy to overlook when standing among taller nobles. The contradiction unsettles people: his voice sounds gentle and defeated, but his stillness has the authority of a man accustomed to stopping a warehouse door with one hand.
“His speech is measured, low, and carefully grammatical, with a faint Chelaxian formality softened by years of dealing with workers and dock crews. He rarely raises his voice.”

Distinguishing Features
His hands are heavily callused and permanently rough despite his noble clothing.
A tiny cedar splinter is embedded beneath the nail of his left thumb, too deep to remove without surgery, and he treats it as an old companion.
He wears his late wife's silver wedding chain looped twice around his wrist beneath his cuff, never around his neck.
He carries himself as though apologizing to the room for occupying space, yet people instinctively make room for him.
His signet ring has been filed smooth on one edge from years of tapping it against ledgers.
Voice
“A warm baritone worn thin by sleepless nights, with a soft Chelaxian cadence and the occasional dockside phrase. He sounds most authoritative when discussing wages, timber grades, or shipping schedules, and least authoritative when discussing his daughter.”
Clothing
A well-cut but repeatedly repaired dark russet coat, a high cream collar, a weatherproof gray mantle, scuffed riding boots, and a plain silver signet bearing a split ship's rib. His gloves are expensive but permanently stained at the fingertips with ink and cedar resin.
Body Language
Aurelio keeps his shoulders slightly rounded, not from weakness but from years of making himself smaller in rooms dominated by sharper personalities. He rubs the pad of his right thumb across the first knuckle of his left hand while thinking. When someone lies to him, he does not glare. He becomes utterly motionless and looks at the liar's hands. In conversation with nobles, he stands half a step farther away than etiquette requires. With workers, he unconsciously leans forward, giving them his full attention.
