Appearance
A quiet young woman with an archivist's poise, Sheshta moves through the scriptorium as though every table, stool, and hanging cord has an assigned place in a larger diagram. Her hands are narrow and perpetually dusted with faint gray graphite, even after washing. She has a calm, oval face, a slightly prominent lower lip, and a small crescent of ink permanently lodged beneath the nail of her right thumb. Her dark hair is braided close to the scalp on one side and allowed to fall in a heavy, imperfect rope over the other shoulder. She is slender without looking fragile, with the controlled balance of someone accustomed to carrying stacks of books through crowded rooms. Her clothes smell of beeswax, cedar shelves, and rain-damp wool. The unexpected element is her smile: when startled or angry, she smiles brightly and almost cheerfully, making her rare moments of genuine fear look like invitations.
“Soft, measured, and slightly breathy, with careful consonants and a faint river-district lilt. She lowers her voice rather than raising it when angry.”

Distinguishing Features
A faint graphite sheen permanently dusts the creases of her fingers.
Her left braid is threaded with tiny copper tags, each stamped with a catalog number.
She smiles brightly when alarmed, creating an unsettling contrast with her otherwise serene manner.
Her clothes carry the layered scent of cedar, beeswax, wet wool, and old paper.
She writes with her left hand but turns pages and handles tools with her right.
Voice
“A low, clear contralto with a breathy onset and a faintly sibilant edge. Her voice becomes warmer when discussing ordinary people and flatter when discussing authority figures. She rarely laughs loudly, but when she does, it arrives suddenly and sounds almost like a cough becoming music.”
Clothing
A moss-brown wool dress beneath a faded russet scholar's coat, both reinforced at the cuffs with pale linen. She wears a narrow belt carrying chalk, sealing wax, thread, a folding ruler, and a small brass letter-opener. Her soft black boots have been resoled several times, and one cuff is always stained with a different color of ink.
Body Language
She keeps her elbows close to her ribs and turns pages with the care other people reserve for touching wounds. When listening, she tilts her head toward the speaker but watches their hands. Her smile appears too quickly during danger. In moments of conviction, she presses two fingers against the tabletop as if holding an invisible page in place.
