Signal Master Kael-7 ("The Echo-Core")
Species
Tectonic Forged
Appearance
Signal Master Kael-7 is a towering construct of dark basalt plates fitted over reinforced bronze framing, standing with the immovable posture of a gatehouse that learned to walk. His armor is polished to a soft, mineral sheen, but fine white quarry dust remains trapped in the seams around his elbows and neck. At the center of his broad metallic chest, an integrated alchemical core pulses emerald whenever a coded message crosses the regional network. His articulated hands move with startling dancer-like delicacy, each finger pausing at exactly the right fraction of a second while operating shutters, drums, mirrors, and signal braziers. His jaw is made from overlapping basalt wedges, and when he laughs, which is rare, the plates part in a grinding crescent that reveals rows of tiny bronze tuning teeth. Despite his intimidating bulk, he walks almost silently, moving with the careful balance of someone carrying a full cup across a shaking bridge.
“His voice is a layered baritone produced by a resonant chamber in his chest. Every sentence carries a faint metallic overtone, and important words arrive with a delayed echo from the core.”

Distinguishing Features
A steady emerald core pulses visibly through the center of his chest whenever a message travels across the relay network.
His basalt jaw opens in several overlapping segments, revealing tiny bronze tuning teeth that click into new positions when he speaks.
Quarry tally marks are engraved beneath his left collar plate, one for each worker he carried out of the collapse.
His fingertips are capped with interchangeable brass tools, including a pick, stylus, tuning fork, and miniature mirror.
He leaves no ordinary footprints, but each step produces a faint, perfectly timed vibration through nearby stone.
Voice
“A deep, resonant voice like a bronze bell heard through a mountain tunnel, with occasional doubled syllables and a faint vibration felt more than heard.”
Clothing
Kael-7 wears no clothing. His chassis serves as both body and armor, fitted with bronze signal clamps, retractable tool arms, and small plates engraved with old quarry tally marks.
Body Language
Kael-7 keeps his shoulders square and his head angled toward the nearest vibration. One bronze thumb repeatedly checks the rim of his chest core without his apparent awareness. When anxious, he becomes unnaturally still, while the emerald light beneath his ribs accelerates. When amused, his fingers tap intricate rhythms against his forearm.
