He places each foot carefully, then occasionally bumps a doorframe as though his body has not caught up with his attention. His smile reveals broad, slightly pointed canine teeth and a small gap between his lower incisors. He laughs with his whole jaw, showing every tooth, which makes his kindness look briefly feral. His hair is meticulously combed at the front but tangled into a wild knot at the nape, a contradiction he refuses to acknowledge. He smells faintly of crushed mint, wet bark, and woodsmoke.
