Appearance
Katalin stands upright with the poised balance of someone accustomed to balconies, stair rails, and narrow carriage roofs. She is slim and athletic, with long wrists, strong calves, and the compact strength of a dancer who learned to climb before she learned to curtsy. Her expression is sly and playful, usually one breath away from laughter. She moves with startling quietness, then makes a deliberate noise when she wants everyone to notice her. Her most immediately memorable feature is her smile: two slightly pointed upper incisors show when she grins, while her lower jaw shifts subtly to the left when she chews. The effect is foxlike but not delicate. Contradictorily, her hands are those of a careful fencer and thief, yet she keeps them ink-stained from constantly annotating menus, invitations, and legal documents. In bright light she appears almost approachable. Against fog or shadow, her stillness makes her seem like a portrait that has decided to move.
“Her voice is clear, quick, and lightly amused, with crisp hard consonants and a subtle highland cadence. She speaks softly when making threats and loudly when pretending not to care.”

Distinguishing Features
Two slightly pointed upper incisors visible when she smiles.
Her lower jaw shifts subtly left when she chews or concentrates.
A brass mountain-route clasp at her throat that she checks without noticing.
Ink stains along the sides of her right hand and beneath two fingernails.
A habit of making eye contact with the quietest person in the room before addressing the loudest.
Voice
“A bright contralto with a dry laugh, a teasing rhythm, and a sudden flatness when she speaks about the avalanche.”
Clothing
A fitted charcoal riding coat over a dark umber waistcoat, with tan linen at the throat and cuffs. Her clothing is expensive but repeatedly repaired, with visible hand stitching in rust-red thread. She wears soft knee-high boots, a narrow leather belt, a weatherproof half-cloak, and a small brass throat clasp engraved with a mountain route. Her gloves are mismatched, one black and one brown, because she claims symmetry makes pickpockets overconfident.
Body Language
She stands tall even when exhausted, rests one thumb against the pommel of her rapier, and angles her body toward the nearest exit without appearing to do so. When amused, she shows her pointed incisors. When lying, she becomes unusually still and adjusts the brass clasp at her throat twice.
