Qarz
Oathbreaker Paladin, Pride Incarnate
Qarz
Species
Human, altered by oathbreaker magic
Appearance
Qarz is a tall, narrow man whose stillness feels deliberate rather than natural. His skin has the dry, fine-grained texture of old parchment stretched over bronze, and faint geometric lines rise beneath it whenever he invokes his oathbreaker magic. He moves with intimate precision, never wasting a gesture, turning his whole body toward whoever is speaking as though granting them the privilege of being observed. Within a minute of meeting him, most people notice the smell of cold iron, rain trapped in stone, and sweet funeral resin. Qarz knows exactly how he smells and considers it a form of heraldry. The contradictory detail is his hands: despite his predatory presence, they are meticulously soft, carefully oiled, and almost tender when handling fragile objects. His shadow sometimes turns its head a moment after he does.
“Low, soft, and carefully paced. Qarz speaks as though every sentence is being placed in someone's hands.”

Distinguishing Features
A brass reliquary shaped like a closed mouth hangs at his sternum, heavily worn only along its lower lip from years of rubbing it with his thumb.
His breath smells faintly of myrrh and wet iron, even after eating or drinking.
His shadow sometimes finishes his movements a heartbeat late.
His teeth are unusually small and even, giving his smile the unsettling neatness of a locked drawer.
He never kneels, even to inspect a fallen enemy.
Voice
“A velvet whisper with the calm certainty of a priest at a bedside. His pauses are longer than comfortable, and when he says a person's name, it sounds less like recognition than possession.”
Clothing
A high-collared coat of black wool layered over tarnished silver mail, with plum-colored lining visible only when he turns. His gloves are pale doeskin, his boots are polished but dusted at the toes, and a narrow sash bears fragments of his ruined basilica's prayer flags.
Body Language
Qarz angles his head as though listening through a wall, keeps one hand resting on his reliquary, and maintains eye contact slightly longer than comfort permits. When someone lies, his thumb rubs the reliquary's worn lower corner. When someone tells the truth, he briefly closes his eyes as if tasting it.
