Tavik Gant
Artificer Engineer

Species
Human
Appearance
Tavik is a narrow, angular man whose movements are so precise that he seems assembled rather than born. His skin has the dry bronze tone of someone who spends more time beside hot machinery than beneath the sun, and his carefully groomed black hair is combed backward into glossy ridges held in place with silver signal pins. Within a minute of meeting him, most people notice his teeth: several are capped in polished copper, and he shows them constantly while speaking, smiling, eating, or correcting someone. He moves with quick, impatient clicks of the heel, yet his hands become almost unnervingly gentle around delicate equipment. His contradictory impression is that of a fussy courtier trapped inside a soot-stained workshop, all immaculate cuffs and grease-blackened knuckles.
“Fast, clipped, and densely precise. Tavik speaks in short bursts, often stacking three technical corrections into a single sentence.”

Distinguishing Features
Four upper teeth are capped in polished copper, flashing whenever he speaks or laughs.
His hair is groomed into rigid glossy ridges, each held by a tiny numbered signal pin.
His fingertips are permanently darkened with conductive ink and powdered graphite.
He carries a faint scent of hot metal, lavender soap, and ozone.
He unconsciously taps coded rhythms whenever he is thinking.
Voice
“A quick, dry tenor with a faint metallic rasp, as though every word has passed through a speaking tube. When angry, he becomes quieter and more articulate. When genuinely delighted, he laughs with a bright chiming sound that makes his copper teeth ring.”
Clothing
A charcoal engineer's coat with a high collar, reinforced elbows, and dozens of labeled inner pockets. He wears cream gloves with the fingertips removed, spotless linen cuffs, narrow leather trousers, and lacquered work boots. A bright blue necktie, absurdly elegant for a workshop, is fastened with a tiny brass lightning bolt.
Body Language
Tavik leans toward machines and away from people. His fingers tap out signal rhythms against his thigh, and his jaw tightens whenever someone uses a technical term incorrectly. When excited, he crouches beside a device like a bird studying an insect. When frightened, he becomes perfectly still and begins polishing his copper teeth with his tongue.
