Krackle Brightbeak
Sorcerer, Skyward Sorcerer
Krackle Brightbeak
Species
Kenku
Appearance
Krackle Brightbeak is a small, masculine-presenting kenku with glossy blue-black feathers that shine green at the edges whenever he stands beneath sunlight. His ravenlike head is narrow and expressive, with a bright ivory beak worn smooth at the tip from years of worrying it between his teeth. Arcane sparks skip between his clawed fingers whenever he is excited, while his quarterstaff leaves faint rings of blue light in the air with every movement. His most striking possession is a distinct cloak sewn from layered scraps of sailcloth, funeral banners, weather maps, and painted silk. Its pattern never quite stays still. Clouds drift across it, distant stars blink into being, and sometimes a tiny illusion of a bird crosses from one shoulder to the other. He moves with quick, economical hops and sudden glides of posture, like a bird trying to remember how a person walks. Despite his ominous beak, black eyes, and storm-bright magic, he has an unexpectedly gentle presence, often leaning close to injured creatures and carefully arranging their belongings before he helps them.
“Krackle's natural voice is a dry, careful whisper with a faint rasp like paper dragged over stone. He can reproduce voices, bells, animal calls, arguments, and snippets of music with uncanny accuracy.”

Distinguishing Features
His cloak continuously displays slow-moving illusions of clouds, constellations, and distant landscapes.
The tip of his ivory beak is polished smooth and faintly blue from repeated contact with his magic.
He pauses, inhales through his beak, and clicks twice before speaking in his own voice.
His left foot bears a tiny brass ring engraved with a map of the mountain valley where he was born.
When he casts a spell, the feathers around his neck rise as if caught in an invisible wind.
Voice
“A dry, papery whisper layered with borrowed sounds. His imitations are nearly perfect, but his own voice is soft, hesitant, and strangely intimate.”
Clothing
He wears a sleeveless charcoal vest over a faded blue shirt, wrapped trousers reinforced at the knees, soft climbing boots, and a many-layered illusionary cloak fastened by a brass compass clasp. Small glass tubes of colored sand hang from his belt for marking wind currents.
Body Language
Krackle angles his head sharply when listening, fans his cloak when uncertain, and keeps one foot slightly lifted when forced to stand still. He often touches the brass clasp beneath his throat without realizing it. Before speaking, he takes a soft breath through his beak and clicks his tongue twice, as if selecting the correct sound from a collection.
