Nalia Mtembe
Wizard
Nalia Mtembe
Species
Fire Genasi
Appearance
Nalia Mtembe is a young fire genasi woman with copper-brown skin that looks faintly powdered with ember dust around the knuckles, collarbones, and temples. Her hair is cut to the jaw in blunt, practical sections, black at the roots and glowing dull red at the tips like charcoal that refuses to go cold. When she is angry, tiny sparks crawl through it, but when she is exhausted it hangs limp and ordinary. Her eyes are dark amber with narrow rings of orange light around the pupils. She moves like a traveler conserving energy, shoulders still, steps economical, hands always ready to reach for a spell component. Her clothes are immaculate despite the road, and she smells of lamp oil, clove soap, and rain on hot stone. The contradictory impression is immediate: she looks like someone prepared to start a fight, yet every button, fold, and strap has been arranged with the care of a meticulous housekeeper.
“Her voice is low, dry, and controlled, with a rough edge like a match struck against stone. Before answering a difficult question, she draws a slow breath through her nose and lets it out in a soft hiss.”

Distinguishing Features
Her hair tips glow faintly whenever she is embarrassed, even when she is trying to appear calm.
She keeps one thumbnail stained blue from copying ink, despite scrubbing it every night.
A small brass thimble is worn as a charm on her belt and tapped three times before she opens her spellbook.
Her clothes are conspicuously neat, but one sleeve is always rolled higher than the other.
Her shadow occasionally shows the outline of smoke rising from her shoulders before settling into its normal shape.
Voice
“Low, dry, and controlled, with a match-strike rasp and a deliberate pause before difficult answers.”
Clothing
A neatly pressed russet traveling coat over a cream linen shirt, dark green trousers tucked into soft leather boots, a narrow brass belt, fingerless charcoal gloves, and a red scarf folded into a precise triangle. Her clothes are patched so cleanly that the repairs look decorative. A silver thimble hangs from her belt beside her spell component pouch.
Body Language
She stands squarely, chin slightly lowered, as if bracing against a strong wind. Her left thumb rubs the edge of her spellbook whenever she is lying. When angered, she stops gesturing entirely, becoming unnervingly still while heat shimmers around her wrists.
