Crag-Vesh
Species
Tectonic Forged, Foundry-Tempered
Appearance
Crag-Vesh is a heavy Tectonic Forged built from dense black basalt, each broad plate veined with dull red mineral lines like cooling lava beneath a kiln floor. Iron-strapped joints flex with a slow, hydraulic groan, while an intense amber Star-Sand core burns behind a soot-smudged chest grate. Their hands are oversized and carefully articulated, made for guiding crane cables rather than delicate work, yet they can tie a sailor's knot with unnerving precision. A narrow chimney-like vent rises from the back of their neck and releases faint curls of warm vapor whenever they concentrate. They move with the measured steadiness of a gantry crane, but their head turns with sudden birdlike speed when they hear stressed metal or a frightened voice. Despite their brutal silhouette, they polish the small brass inspection tags on their harness every morning.
“Low, measured, and metallic, with a faint resonance like a hammer striking a hollow rail. Their words arrive after a deliberate pause, and certain consonants carry a soft grinding undertone.”

Distinguishing Features
The amber Star-Sand core brightens in distinct pulses that observant characters may mistake for a heartbeat.
A tiny brass seal from the first crane accident is riveted beneath the left collar plate.
Their neck vent releases a faint cinnamon-and-iron scent when they are anxious.
They polish every inspection tag until it reflects the furnace light.
Their left thumb bears a shallow maker's mark shaped like three nested triangles.
Voice
“A deep furnace rumble softened by careful diction, with a faint hiss before difficult words and a quiet metallic chime when they are amused.”
Clothing
A soot-black canvas loading harness reinforced with brass plates, a red-and-ochre dockwarden sash, heavy iron tool loops, and a weatherproof half-cloak clipped beneath the left shoulder. Their inspection tags hang in neat rows across the chest.
Body Language
Keeps both feet planted wide as if the ground might shift. Tilts their head toward machinery when listening. When angered, their fingers slowly close around an invisible cable, and the amber core behind their chest grate brightens.
