Elian Rusk
Fighter, Eldritch Knight
Elian Rusk
Species
Human
Appearance
Elian is a broad-shouldered human man with weathered olive skin, a broken nose that healed slightly crooked, and iron-gray hair clipped close at the sides. His face has the severe stillness of a carved monument, yet his hands are unexpectedly gentle, marked by old burns and the pale scars of sutures. He moves with economical precision, never wasting a step, though his left foot drags faintly after long marches. The contradiction is striking: he looks built to break a siege gate, but when frightened cadets approach, he lowers himself to their eye level and speaks as if calming a wounded animal. He smells of lamp oil, clean wool, and bitter mountain herbs. His polished buttons click softly when he turns, while the leather of his sword belt creaks like a restrained complaint.
“Precise, restrained, and quietly forceful. He favors short clauses, practical nouns, and questions that make evasion difficult.”

Distinguishing Features
A pale fracture-like scar runs from his left temple to the corner of his mouth.
His left boot contains a concealed steel brace that clicks faintly on stone stairs.
A yellow evacuation cord is permanently tied around his left glove.
He carries a wooden cadet's whistle that belonged to a student he failed to save.
His signet ring is deliberately filed smooth, with no family crest remaining.
Voice
“A low baritone with a dry rasp, as if every sentence has passed over grit. His command voice can cut through rain, artillery, and panic without becoming loud.”
Clothing
A dark slate military coat reinforced with hidden lamellar plates, wine-red piping bearing Umelia's sigil, high riding boots, a weatherproof half-cloak, and a plain steel signet ring. His left glove is always fastened with a strip of yellow evacuation cord taken from the Ashen Muster.
Body Language
Elian stands with his hands clasped behind his back, thumbs pressed against one another like a locked mechanism. He turns his whole body toward whoever speaks, even when displeased. Around cadets, he kneels or removes his gloves. Around senior officers, he remains perfectly upright and never blinks first.
