Appearance
Jorren looks older than the lines on his face suggest: hair white as quenched steel, cropped short but for a single braided tuft tied with a faded blue ribbon. His skin is a map of tiny burn scars layered like dried riverbeds; a long, pale seam of scar tissue angles from temple to jaw where a shard once bit him. He wears a soot-dark apron over heavy leather and a patched chain shirt that has seen a hundred repairs. His hands are broad, callused yet remarkably steady, the fingertips stained with bronze and coal but with a neat crescent of polished skin at each nail as if he can't bear roughness there. He walks with a slow, deliberate gait — a small limp in the left leg from an old wound — but when he lifts a hammer or rushes to defend someone, his movements become brisk and economic, almost dancer-like. Unexpectedly, he keeps a small wooden toy horse tucked into a pocket of his apron and will take it out and spin it on the forge bench when thinking.
“Gruff, economical; uses short sentences and smithing metaphors. Calls people 'lad' or 'lass' or 'friend' depending on warmth; uses blunt humor to test trust.”

Distinguishing Features
Long healed scar from temple to jaw
Single white braid tied with a blue ribbon
Tarnished copper coin worn on apron (oblong with child's tooth mark)
Right ear nicked and notched with three small cuts
Constant smudge of soot under his left eye
Voice
“Low, rasping from years near the forge, but clear and surprisingly melodic when he tells a personal story. He speaks slowly and chooses words with the care of someone measuring metal.”
Clothing
Heavy leather apron with metal studs, patched wool tunic under a reinforced mail shirt, oil-leather boots, fingerless gloves with the thumb cut off. A faded blue ribbon braided into his hair and a tarnished copper coin pinned to his chest.
Body Language
Tends to lean on his hammer like a cane when talking; rubs his thumb over the copper coin when considering questions; often turns his palms up to show no hidden tools when trust is asserted.
