Soryn Vaelthar

Level 5·Male·Medium
Neutral Good

Species

Half-Elf (Vaelthar Lineage)

Appearance

Soryn looks like two lives stitched together. At a glance: a spare, angular face framed by a mane of dark hair braided with a thin leather thong of bright blue beads; his left cheek bears a white, ragged scar that sweeps from jaw to temple and seems to lift the skin slightly as if keeping a smile trapped. His movements are sure and dancer-light when he duels, deliberate and careful when he reads a manuscript. He walks with a slight limp in his right leg, favoring precision over force. Unexpectedly, he wears a child's paper crane tucked into the breast of his coat — always dry and uncreased — a relic of a promise he made. Around his forearms are faint, tattooed script in an old dialect that glows like ink when he channels his power. When still he gives the impression of someone who thinks he is only momentarily resting between crises.

Height6'0"
BuildLean, wiry muscles; trained for speed and endurance rather than mass
EyesPale green with flecks of gold and a faint catlike slit when amused
HairBlack with a single silver streak along the right temple braid
SkinOlive with a warm, freckled undertone

Measured and warm with a quirk of theatricality; uses literary flourishes and old proverbs drawn from many cultures. He softens his vowels when soothing, sharpens consonants in anger.”

Distinguishing Features

White jagged facial scar along left cheek

Tiny paper crane pinned inside his coat (never deteriorates)

Tattooed runes that glow when he channels magic

Silver streak braided into his hair

Voice

Smooth baritone with a faint coastal lilt; voice warms into near-whisper when speaking of the past or the blade.

Clothing

A dark charcoal coat lined with faded vellum pockets (for notes and fragments), high-collared linen shirt, fitted leather bracers etched with sigils, and mismatched gloves — right glove reinforced leather, left glove fingerless and embroidered with tiny constellations. He favors muted tones save for a single cobalt sash that shifts position depending on his mood.

Body Language

Touches the paper crane when anxious, adjusts his sash when lying, tilts his head as if listening to a faraway bell when deciding whether to share something
