Appearance
Iria is a compact, sharp-featured woman whose stillness feels more threatening than most people's movement. She keeps her dark copper hair braided into a thick crown, but several wisps are permanently dusted with flour and ale foam from the tavern's kitchen and cellar. Her hands are broad-knuckled, quick, and meticulously clean except for the dark stain beneath her left thumbnail that no scrubbing removes. She moves with a server's effortless balance, sliding around tables without making chairs scrape, yet when angry she becomes startlingly motionless. Her most unexpected feature is her smile: wide, warm, and almost girlish, completely at odds with the cold precision of her assessing gaze.
“Her voice is low, quick, and pleasantly roughened by years of calling over tavern noise. She speaks in short, vivid comparisons, often describing people as if they were meals or weather.”

Distinguishing Features
A permanent dark stain beneath her left thumbnail that resembles spilled ink.
Golden thread repairs running through nearly every seam of her clothing.
A broad, almost childlike smile that appears when she is most dangerous.
She can carry three full tankards in one hand without looking at them.
Her left wrist bears a tiny brass charm shaped like a river lantern, polished brighter than all her other jewelry.
Voice
“Low, quick, and warmly rough, with the effortless authority of someone used to being obeyed without raising her voice”
Clothing
A smoke-blue linen shirt, a dark leather waistcoat, a long brown apron reinforced with hidden inner pockets, and close-fitting trousers tucked into soft river boots. Every visible seam has been repaired with golden thread, not for beauty but so she can identify which garments have been tampered with. Her waistcoat is too fine for a tavernkeeper and has been lovingly brushed despite its many years of wear.
Body Language
Iria leans slightly toward people when listening, as if granting them a privilege. Her hands are almost always occupied with polishing glassware, arranging coins, or folding a napkin into a precise triangle. When she decides someone is dangerous, she stops blinking as often and begins standing with one foot angled toward the nearest exit.
