Appearance
Kesthra Várn stands with the composed elegance of someone expecting an audience that never arrives. She is slender without seeming fragile, with long wrists, strong calves, and a slightly forward-set posture that suggests years spent listening at doors. She moves in quiet diagonals, favoring her left side when crossing open ground, and never quite turns her back on a fountain, doorway, or fallen sheet of paper. Her most noticeable possession is a narrow brass document tube worn beneath her right arm. The leather strap has polished one deep groove into her coat, and the brass cap is dulled everywhere except where her thumb repeatedly rubs it. Her clothes are immaculate at first glance, but the hems carry pale mineral dust from abandoned streets. The unexpected detail is her smile, which is warm, almost maternal, even when she is delivering a threat. She leaves behind the impression of a portrait that has quietly stepped out of its frame.
“Her voice is low, clear, and carefully paced, with clipped consonants and a faint river-country lilt. She rarely raises it.”

Distinguishing Features
A brass document tube worn beneath her right arm, its leather strap polished into one deep groove.
A habit of standing slightly left-foot-forward, as though every conversation might become a duel.
A warm, almost maternal smile that appears most clearly when she is threatening someone.
Pale mineral dust gathered permanently in the stitching of her boot hems.
Her left glove is repaired with conspicuous pale blue thread.
Voice
“A low, precise contralto with a cool river-country cadence, softened by an occasional unexpected warmth”
Clothing
A high-collared charcoal coat with a narrow split at the back, a muted teal waistcoat, fitted gray trousers, soft black riding boots, and a weather-stained cream scarf pinned with a plain iron clasp. Her gloves are thin enough for sword work, with the left glove repaired in pale blue thread.
Body Language
Kesthra keeps her shoulders relaxed and her chin level, but her left foot is always angled toward the nearest exit. Her fingers often rest lightly against the brass document tube. When she lies, she becomes perfectly still. When she is angry, she begins smoothing the same fold of her sleeve again and again.
