Appearance
Svar is a broad, pale-skinned man whose presence seems to arrive a moment before he does. His black hair is cut close at the sides and tied into a stiff, short knot at the crown, with loose strands often caught in the grease of his wolf-hide armor. Red and black warpaint runs in three blunt strokes from his lower lip to his jaw, then continues across his throat like a dark collar. His armor is made from overlapping charcoal-gray plates sewn beneath a massive dark wolf pelt, the fur rough, oily, and silvered at the shoulders. He walks with a surprisingly quiet, almost careful step for someone so large, but when he stops, he occupies the space like a door barred from the inside. His hands are the most noticeable thing about him: thick-knuckled, deeply callused, and permanently darkened around the nails by soot, leather dye, and old iron. The contradictory impression is that his fearsome armor smells faintly of crushed juniper and clean linen.
“Low, clipped, and deliberate. He speaks as though every sentence must survive a blizzard.”

Distinguishing Features
His black-and-red warpaint continues beneath his collar and is refreshed every morning with a ritual blade.
His hands are unusually broad, with cracked fingertips and blackened nail beds from years of forge work and winter patrols.
A small braid of pale wolf fur hangs from his left wrist, tied around a plain iron ring.
He casts a large, hunched wolf-shaped shadow when standing near firelight, even when no object should create it.
He carries the scent of juniper smoke, wet wool, and sharpened iron.
Voice
“A low baritone with a dry rasp, like boots grinding over frozen gravel. When speaking to frightened people, he softens until the sound resembles distant hearthfire.”
Clothing
Charcoal wolf-hide armor over layered black wool, red-dyed linen wraps around his forearms, seal-leather boots, a broad iron belt, and a weather-stained gray cloak fastened with a bone toggle carved like a closed eye
Body Language
Svar leans slightly forward when listening, making people feel examined even when he is trying to be kind. He keeps his hands open around strangers, but folds them behind his back around children. When anger rises, he becomes unnaturally still, with only one thumb rubbing the edge of his belt buckle.
