Vexis Salt-Gaze
Fighter, Battle Master, Harbor Commander
Vexis Salt-Gaze
Species
Aethelgard Half-Dragon, Gold Draconic Ancestry
Appearance
Vexis stands nearly seven feet tall, broad through the shoulders and long in the arms, with polished gold scales dulled by salt, sun, and years of harbor smoke. Brine corrosion has stippled the scales along his jaw, knuckles, and collarbones, leaving them rough as hammered brass. His horns sweep backward in smooth, modest arcs, their tips darkened from constant contact with his boarding helmet. He moves with economical precision, never quite turning his back on a door, rail, or unfamiliar crew. An old brass spyglass hangs at his chest, its leather grip worn pale where his thumb rests. The unexpected softness is in his hands, which are careful and almost delicate when handling papers, wounded sailors, or a child's toy left on a dock.
“Low, clipped, and carefully paced. His words carry the dry rasp of rope against a wet cleat.”

Distinguishing Features
A brass spyglass hangs from his neck, its leather grip worn nearly white at the exact place his thumb closes around it.
Three small gold scales on his left wrist are permanently roughened by salt and appear almost sandblasted.
His lower horns are fitted with tiny red signal beads used by harbor crews to identify him through smoke.
He smells faintly of hot metal, seawater, and clove oil used to polish his armor.
Despite his imposing size, he turns pages with extraordinary care and never creases a document.
Voice
“A deep, restrained baritone with a faint metallic resonance, as though every word has passed through a brass speaking tube”
Clothing
Salt-stained leather lies beneath fitted brass-filigree plate armor, with a dark red harbor sash tucked beneath the breastplate. His cloak is short to keep it from catching on rigging, and its hem is stiff with dried spray. A black officer's cap is reinforced around the horns and bears Saltmark's three-basin seal.
Body Language
Vexis stands squarely, with his tail held low and still. When listening, he angles one horn toward the speaker. His claws tap twice against brass whenever he detects a lie, then stop completely when he has made a decision.
