Oren Pike
Rogue, Thief
Oren Pike
Species
Half-Orc
Appearance
Oren is a broad-shouldered half-orc who looks built to haul scenery but moves with the cautious precision of someone carrying a full tray through a crowded room. He waits with most of his weight on the balls of his feet, one heel hovering just above the floor, as if every surface might suddenly become a collapsing stage. His skin is deep olive-gray with a faint green cast beneath the jaw, textured like worn river stone. His lower canines are filed flat rather than sharpened, an unexpectedly delicate choice that makes his rare smiles look almost courteous. He has a heavy brow, a square nose, and tightly controlled expressions. When calm, he breathes so quietly that people often mistake him for standing farther away. When rattled, his breath becomes audible through his teeth in three clipped exhalations, and his fingers begin testing knots that are not there.
“Low, spare, and carefully measured. Oren speaks as if every word must be secured before it is lowered into place.”

Distinguishing Features
A small brass thimble is worn on a cord around his neck, despite Oren almost never sewing.
He keeps his left heel lifted whenever he is waiting.
His lower tusks are filed flat and polished smooth.
He can identify most troupe members by the sound of their footsteps on different floorboards.
When startled, he exhales three sharp breaths through his teeth before speaking.
Voice
“A deep, dry baritone with a slight rasp, like rope sliding over a wooden pulley. When calm, it is nearly too soft to hear. When frightened, the volume does not rise, but every syllable becomes sharply distinct.”
Clothing
A sleeveless charcoal work coat reinforced with hidden leather panels, a faded burgundy sash used for carrying tools, close-fitting trousers, soft-soled stage shoes, and a collection of brass hooks, cords, chalk pieces, and spare fasteners. His clothing is carefully patched but never clean enough to look ceremonial.
Body Language
Oren stands slightly turned rather than squarely facing people, keeping one shoulder angled toward the nearest useful object. His hands are usually occupied with a knot, buckle, nail, or length of cord. When suspicious, he becomes very still except for his jaw. When angry, he smiles politely and begins organizing the room around his opponent.
