Kipp Cinder-Fingers
Rogue 6, Thief
Kipp Cinder-Fingers
Species
Kobold, Tunnel-Runner
Appearance
Kipp is a small, quick-moving kobold with scruffy charcoal scales that catch gray mineral dust in their overlapping ridges. He keeps his weight forward on the balls of his feet, as if every floor might give way, and when he waits he leans against walls rather than standing in open space. His narrow muzzle is usually powdered pale around the nostrils from constant work in basalt tunnels. A surprisingly neat row of tiny copper beads circles one horn, each bead stamped with a message-route code. He moves in abrupt darts, then becomes utterly still, creating the unsettling impression of a coal ember skipping across stone. The unexpected softness in him appears when he handles old letters, which he touches with both hands as carefully as a priest lifting a relic.
“Rapid, precise, and lightly breathless, with a soft rasp beneath the words. He swallows before saying a dangerous name and occasionally clicks his tongue to mark a turn in a route.”

Distinguishing Features
A ring of copper beads circles one horn, each stamped with a clandestine route symbol.
He has a habit of smelling a message before opening it, claiming paper remembers smoke, oil, and the hands that carried it.
His tail is unusually expressive, curling tightly around his ankle when he lies and flicking in three quick beats when danger is near.
His mineral-dusted scales make him look perpetually filthy, but his tools are obsessively polished and arranged by sound rather than size.
He leaves tiny chalk arrows at ankle height, usually hidden beneath pipes or behind loose slag plates.
Voice
“A quick, smoky tenor with a faint whistle on sibilants, like air escaping through a cracked furnace seam.”
Clothing
A soot-dark light leather harness crosses his chest and hips, packed with lockpicks, wire-cutters, wax, chalk, folded route maps, and narrow pry tools. He wears a patched red scarf beneath the harness, soft footwraps reinforced with thin metal plates, and a hooded ash-cloak whose inner lining is marked with coded stitching.
Body Language
Kipp keeps one shoulder angled toward the nearest escape route and rests two fingers against whatever wall is closest. His hands are always busy, rolling a copper bead, testing a buckle, or tracing invisible route lines across his palm. When someone mentions Vaelen, his posture straightens so sharply that the tool harness gives a faint metallic clatter.
