Measure-Ten
Species
Tectonic Forged, Star-Sand Calibrated
Appearance
Measure-Ten is assembled from dense basalt blocks whose seams are packed with copper mesh and pale mineral mortar. A steady azure Star-Sand core glows behind a reinforced lead-glass breastplate, casting blue light across their angular torso whenever their internal pressure rises. Their head is a blunt, hammer-shaped piece of black stone with a narrow horizontal visor rather than a face. They do not look at people first. Their gaze settles on door hinges, ceiling braces, loose gravel, and the feet of anyone standing near a fault line. Their hands are broad, four-jointed tools, each fingertip capped in worn copper, and decades of bracing shafts have polished the knuckles smooth. Despite their massive, furnace-built frame, they move with careful gentleness, placing each foot as though the floor might be listening. The unexpected impression is not brutality but restraint, like a collapsed bridge choosing not to fall again.
“A low, resonant voice that sounds like stone dragged across stone. Each sentence is carefully spaced, with a faint metallic overtone when they are angry or operating near unstable magic.”

Distinguishing Features
A steady azure Star-Sand core shines behind lead glass in their chest.
Their copper-capped hands are polished smooth at the knuckles from decades of bracing stone and hauling support beams.
Their visor turns toward structural weaknesses before it turns toward faces.
Every basalt plate bears tiny calibration marks, some of which have been altered by hand.
Their footsteps are nearly silent on stone but produce a faint resonant chime on metal.
Voice
“Deep, measured, and resonant, with the controlled cadence of a pressure gauge settling into a safe range.”
Clothing
A reinforced work harness crosses their chest beneath the lead-glass breastplate. It carries copper clamps, chalk cylinders, survey pins, folded hazard maps, and a dark red field cloak marked with the Ninth Measure's segmented measuring sigil. Their lower legs are wrapped in heat-resistant leather and chain mesh, while heavy iron soles are engraved with grounding circles.
Body Language
Measure-Ten stands with their feet slightly staggered, as though permanently prepared for a tremor. Their head turns toward pressure changes before sounds reach them. When listening, they lower one broad hand and spread the copper-capped fingers against the nearest solid surface. Their rare gestures are precise, economical, and startlingly gentle.
