Valerius Drift-Savant
Species
Aethelgard Half-Dragon, Brass Draconic Ancestry
Appearance
Valerius is a tall brass-scaled half-dragon whose polished hide reflects temple lamps in warm, wavering bands. Fine copper crest-horns sweep backward from his brow like carefully filed metalwork, and his long hands are permanently marked by his profession: the fingertips are darkened with ink, the knuckles roughened by stone dust, and the claws trimmed nearly flat for turning brittle archive pages. He moves with measured quiet, but never stands still for long. His eyes travel constantly toward doors, ceiling joints, ward-lines, and the hands of everyone present. The unexpected softness of his appearance is his habit of carrying a small knitted blue cord around one wrist, made by a kobold archivist he once rescued, beneath robes designed to make him look untouchable.
“His voice is low, dry, and carefully paced, with the faint rasp of a file drawn across metal. He pronounces names and dates with ceremonial precision, but his vowels soften when speaking to workers or children.”

Distinguishing Features
Copper crest-horns etched with tiny angular marks that record the dates of major rift surveys.
Ink-black fingertips and stone-roughened knuckles from decades of archive work and transmutation practice.
A blue knitted cord hidden beneath his left sleeve, worn in memory of the kobold workers lost in the archive fire.
He smells faintly of hot metal, cedar oil, and old paper.
His polished scales are immaculate except for a single dull patch at the center of his sternum, where the closing rift altered the reflective surface of his hide.
Voice
“A restrained baritone with a papery rasp, as though every sentence has been copied from an old legal record and quietly revised before delivery.”
Clothing
High-caste temple robes of charcoal, dark red, and tarnished gold, tailored with numerous hidden scroll pockets. The hems are weighted with tiny brass beads, and the inner sleeves are stitched with geometric ward patterns. His sandals are reinforced for stone, ash, and heated floors.
Body Language
Valerius keeps his shoulders relaxed and his chin slightly lowered, presenting humility while controlling the room through stillness. His fingers tap silent measurements against his focus rod whenever he calculates risk. He rarely looks directly at the most important person in a room. Instead, he watches the witnesses, guards, scribes, and doors around them.
