Appearance
Bea looks as though she was assembled from practical things that survived hard weather. Her freckled face is broad at the cheekbones, her nose has been broken once and healed slightly crooked, and a pale burn mark curls beneath her left ear like a white fern. Her copper-brown hair is usually braided tight against her scalp, though loose strands cling to her temples when the inn grows hot. She moves with a dancer's balance, sliding around tables without seeming to hurry, yet her hands are astonishingly strong from years of hauling casks. Her smile is quick and genuine, but her stillness is unsettling. When Bea stops moving, the room seems to notice. She smells faintly of yeast, lemon peel, woodsmoke, and rain-soaked wool. The unexpected contradiction is her delicate, almost scholarly hands, which are covered in tiny ink stains despite her rough occupation.
“Her voice is husky and musical, carrying easily over clattering cups and harbor wind. She speaks quickly when excited, slows to a careful murmur when discussing the dead, and gives dangerous people a sweetness that sounds almost like affection.”

Distinguishing Features
A crooked nose from a childhood dockside brawl
A pale burn scar beneath her left ear
Ink-stained fingertips from maintaining a secret ledger
A brass inn token hidden beneath her collar
Hums the same three-note phrase whenever she is near an open flame
Voice
“Low, warm, and carrying, with a salt-coast lilt that turns almost melodic when she is angry.”
Clothing
A smoke-darkened russet bodice over a cream linen shirt, a sea-green wool skirt split for movement, thick stockings, battered ankle boots, a leather apron, and a brass token from the Millstone's first owner tied beneath her collar
Body Language
Bea is always half in motion, one shoulder angled toward the nearest exit. She balances cups on her fingertips, drums rhythms against tabletops, and leans close when someone speaks of grief. When angry, she becomes unnaturally polite and folds her hands behind her back. When frightened, she smiles and starts humming.
